Red Hots are the first candy I remember eating. I was 5 or 6 years old. I would go to the neighbor's house, and "Aunt" Gayle would give me Red Hots and milk (a great combination!) I'd sit on the floor of their kitchen and look at the pictures of their Time-Life Science Library books and munch on those waxy, spicy candies until I felt sick. When I was a little older, I'd do chores for "Aunt" Gayle and "Uncle" Don, mowing and weeding mostly. They'd pay me a few bucks, of course, But I'd also get my Red Hots and milk. Many years later, I visited "Aunt" Gayle. ("Uncle" Don had passed away by then.) She didn't forget and brought out the jar of Red Hots.
